HP 15s FQ5096TU rocks the latest 12th Gen internals. It has got Intel® processor, customizable RAM and storage with Intel UHD graphics. It is also worth noting that this is a 15.6” full HD display and lastly it runs Windows 11.
Processor
The Alder Lake processor is the latest and most powerful chip introduced by Intel. This laptop comes equipped with the 12th Generation Intel Core i3-1215U Alder Lake (10 MB Cache) chip which can deliver a clocking speed range starting from 1.2 GHz for routine tasks and going up to 4.4 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology for more demanding tasks. The 6 cores and 8 threads CPU uses P-cores and E-cores in a hybrid architecture for better performance. Moreover, it can support the latest technologies such as DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 and WiFi 6E.
Storage and RAM
The built-in storage in this laptop is 256 GB Solid State Drive and the pre-equipped memory that it comes with is 4 GB DDR4 RAM. The RAM has a clock speed of 3200 MHz and can be upgraded to 32 GB. The storage can also be expanded up to 2 TB M.2 NVME SSD. Expanding the duo, increases the overall system’s speed.
Graphics and Display
Intel UHD Graphics power the GPU of this notebook. This graphics card with the latest Intel upgrades lets you browse the web, stream media and play light casual online games without straining the battery or CPU performance. As for the display, it measures 15.6-inches which is nice and large. The side bezels are thin but the chin of the display is relatively thick with HP branding. The screen has an anti-glare coating to minimize reflections. Moreover, this device has an HD 1366 x 768p display with impressive viewing angles. In terms of colour accuracy, the screen offers 45% NTSC and a peak brightness level of 250 nits.
Build and Design
In terms of design, the latest HP 15s, looks very much like last year’s model. It has a full hard plastic build. However, unlike previous models, this one seems a bit sturdier with less flex overall. With that said, this device has an approximate weight of 1.69 kg (3.72), making it portable and easy to carry along. The chassis has a smooth texture and comes in a platinum silver colour with the HP logo shining in the dead centre of the lid.
The bottom of the device has a long linear air intake vent, whereas, the exhaust vents are on the sides. There is a wide trackpad that provides a decent amount of surfing area and the clicks feel fairly tactile. Moreover, you benefit from a full-size keyboard with a separate numeric pad, hence a comfortable typing experience.
Camera
The HP True Vision 720p HD camera with temporal noise reduction does the job for video calling quite well and the integrated dual array digital microphones let you send your voice to the other side clearly.
